Structura’s Neuroinclusion Journey: From Commitment to Gold Status

Over the past eighteen months, Structura has taken a strategic and practical approach to embedding neuroinclusion across the business in an effort to create a workplace where different ways of thinking and working are understood, supported and valued.

Laying the Foundations
Every employee now completes neuroinclusion training as part of their induction, ensuring a shared understanding from the outset. We also established a group of internal Neuro Ambassadors, supported by neuroinclusive specialists, to help guide conversations, share knowledge, and support colleagues across the organisation.

Turning Awareness into Action
We have delivered in-depth training to nearly half of our workforce, with the remainder scheduled to begin shortly. Alongside this, we introduced a formal neuroinclusion policy and implemented reasonable adjustments to our working environments and practices where possible.

Our focus has been on creating a culture where neurodivergence is recognised as a normal part of both office and site life, helping employees feel comfortable bringing their full selves to work.

Recognised by the Neurodiversity Employer Index
To benchmark our progress, we partnered with Autistica and applied to the Neurodiversity Employer Index (NDEI). The process included employee surveys, director interviews, and a detailed review of our policies and practices.

We were honoured to be awarded Gold Business status – recognition that reflects the commitment and efforts of our teams, while also highlighting opportunities to keep improving.

Why This Work Matters
Our latest internal diversity survey suggests that nearly a quarter of our employees identify as neurodivergent. This reinforces that neuroinclusion is not theoretical, it directly affects our people, our collaboration, and our performance.

Our approach has never been about trends or labels. It is about being a responsible employer and ensuring that a wide range of skills, perspectives, and lived experiences are welcomed. Beyond the ethical case, there is also strong evidence that neurodiverse teams can be significantly more productive and innovative.

Continuing the Journey
Although achieving Gold status is a significant milestone, we recognise that neuroinclusion is an ongoing process. With a clear roadmap in place, we remain committed to strengthening our policies, training, and workplace environments to ensure all employees can thrive.
