Structura has completed works at 1 Triton Square, adjacent to Euston Tower in London’s Knowledge Quarter, as part of the building’s full retrofit into British Land’s new science and technology campus. Delivered by Overbury and designed by Arup, the project has achieved a BREEAM Outstanding sustainability rating. 

Appointed to deliver the atrium façade package, Structura’s scope comprised timber curtain walling, acoustic louvres, glazing, and five projecting workspace pods within the central atrium. Sustainability and circularity were fundamental to the scheme, with Arup adopting a detailed “marginal gains” approach to maximise the building’s low-carbon potential. 

Central to the transformation is a floor-to-ceiling RAICO timber curtain wall system, selected for its thermally insulating, natural and low-carbon properties. The installation presented significant technical challenges due to the scale, weight and delicacy of the timber framework. In parallel, Structura fabricated and installed Gustafs acoustic timber louvre panels, carefully integrated within the elevations to enhance both visual and acoustic performance.

The project also implemented a materials passport system, enabling full traceability of construction materials to support future maintenance, reuse and recycling.

Structura is proud to have contributed to a landmark retrofit that sets a new benchmark for sustainable workplaces, delivering an estimated 40,000 tonnes of carbon savings compared to a new-build alternative.
