Best Use of Timber Nomination: Façade Design & Engineering Awards

1 Triton Square has been shortlisted in the Best Use of Timber category at the 2026 Society of Façade Engineering (SFE) Façade Design & Engineering Awards.

Working alongside British Land, Arup, Lendlease, Overbury, M3 Consulting, AECOM and the wider project team, Structura delivered the RAICO Bautechnik GmbH timber curtain walling, Gustafs Scandinavia acoustic timber louvres, glazing and five projecting workspace pods within the building’s central atrium.

As our industry continues its journey towards lower-carbon construction, projects like Triton Square demonstrate the important role timber can play in creating more sustainable buildings. By combining responsibly sourced materials with intelligent façade design and close collaboration across the supply chain, we can continue reducing embodied carbon while delivering exceptional buildings. The project also embraced circular economy principles through the use of materials passports, helping to ensure building components remain traceable for future maintenance, reuse and recycling.

Working with timber also brings its own challenges. Its weight and delicate finished surfaces demand careful handling, meticulous planning and exceptional craftsmanship throughout manufacture and installation, making collaboration and experience essential to achieving the architect’s vision.

All efforts are rewarded at moments of recognition like this, and in the knowledge that we are still following the principles of ‘ The greenest building is the one already standing.’

Congratulations to everyone involved, with a special mention to Matt Taylor and the Structura team, and to Arup for their support with the award submission.

Good luck to all nominees at the awards later this year.
