21 Nov Curved Kalwall installation at architectural gem Cliffhanger, Godalming

Structura were proud to support the renovation of this breath-taking building.

The residential property was originally designed by Michael Manser of The Manser Practice in the 1960s, and in recent years has been re-visited by his son, Jonathan, to support the upgrade and modernisation of this bespoke structure. Part of the re-design process included a plan to relocate the staircase from the centre of the house, which not only has increased the living room space but also created an opportunity to use Kalwall to enclose the newly situated curved staircase at the end of the building.

Positioned on stilts on a 50-degree incline in the Surrey Hills, the home lives up to its name: Cliffhanger. The installation team navigated the challenging site with a lot of careful footing and communication to ensure safe construction at all times. They successfully installed the bespoke curved Kalwall system to house the spiral staircase, providing natural light in abundance to flow through the rest of the house, while providing privacy for the occupants within.
